Printable topic communication boards for the Studio. Point, select, use your own AAC or ask a partner to read. Keep the pupil’s familiar system and vocabulary available.
Choose a board
These original pictograms and text are starter cues, not a validated symbol set or an individual AAC prescription. Preview meanings with the pupil, adjust size/contrast/vocabulary, and involve their usual communication team. Model a selection without requiring imitation; the pupil controls the message.

These are starting cues. Other messages are always welcome. Speech, eye contact and eating are optional.
My message
Message text stays in memory only. No recording or uploads. If local speech is unavailable, ask a partner or use your usual AAC.
Use a board with a partner
Put it within the pupil’s chosen access space. Read labels or offer their established partner-assisted scanning method when useful; confirm the pupil’s selection and accept rejection or no response. Do not move a pupil’s hand or assume a selection. Give composition time and respond to meaning.
A pupil may need familiar symbols, photographs, objects of reference, a different grid size or their existing device vocabulary instead. Keep stable vocabulary in the usual system; these topic boards are optional additions.
Professional background: AAC includes speech, gestures and aided communication. This reference explains AAC broadly and is not an endorsement of these boards.
