A familiar character-led route into personal safety: recognising feelings, noticing when something is not right, understanding boundaries, identifying trusted adults and knowing how to seek help.
Why Oakie?
A familiar, trusted character can make difficult safety conversations feel more accessible, particularly for younger pupils and pupils who benefit from predictable visual language.
The content would still need to follow each school or trust’s safeguarding policy and agreed protective-behaviours language.

Access
Stories can use symbols, signing, AAC modelling, repetition, animation and simple choices so pupils do not need fluent spoken language to participate.
Safeguarding review
Wording, disclosures, escalation, trusted-adult routes and staff guidance should be signed off locally before any pupil-facing release.
What a pilot can test
Whether pupils recognise the language, can identify a trusted adult and can demonstrate a safe help-seeking response in simple scenarios.
